At the moment i am secure in the decision of what i want to film and make, Uncanny gardens. However, there are many questions that i am raising about what to do when filming and afterwards.
- Firstly, do i attempt to do a green screen? Or do i just opt for the normal thing of filming it outside? I am actually quite excited to try filming it via green screen and blending my worlds with real footage of outside, as previously this blend has worked. Perhaps, i could include a green screened house?
- When filming, do i try out from different angles or do i go for loads of different shots. Or do i move the camera round, but just in one take? I will have to be careful if i am going to be moving the camera to make sure i keep it stable. Another thing i will need to be careful of is making sure it still all looks real. But again, in the past it has been more interesting with the camera moving and there being slight movement within the work itself.
- Atmosphere/ weather. Do i go for a typical normal day? Do i attempt rain? Do i have fog? How extreme do i go. And secondly on that, what will my lighting be like? Do i want a yellow tinge of street lights? Or do i want a weird red hue coming from somewhere, a bit more Steven Speilbergy! -maybe i actually do!? film at night
- Next, do i want sound? I don't know. This is the constant question, does it add or take away. This is what i am unsure of. If i was to have sound i think i would have noises which were a bit like drone sounds. A more computerised sound in order ti keep with the uncanny and unnatural.
- However, do i want a made film, or do i intact want to do a live feed from the sculptures o a projection? I have been looking at artists who are doing this and it is making me think that this is becoming an increased possibility. However, the trouble with that would be i would not be able to control the weather, only the light conditions, but again, this may be okay. And have a different effect having the actual sculpture in the room. But again, problems with this is that i work with live materials and they would start to die!
- Finally, if i do decided to film things, how do i then present? I could do it as a series of TV monitors, but there will be no colour there, and so perhaps you won't see the weather conditions. But again in black and white it may lead to it being more deceiving. Or maybe, just maybe.....i could attempt a 360* camera project? that would be fun...but that wouldn't work if some were taken from some times of night, and the others at other times.
