Hargreaves recreates captivating photographs of peoples last meals. These photographs are accompanied by a formal list of: the persons name, where they lived, crime committed, way of death and then followed by what they had to eat for their last meal. The strategically taken photograph places you above the food. It makes it seem as though you are sat at the table and this is your last meal. This instantly makes you think that surely this was not their meal and they didn't deserve this. This piece makes me think that does this make the guards job easier? If they know that they have given them a nice last meal, surely this makes up for what they are about to do. Take their life. Hardly seems like a fitting swap. Through their simplicity and cleaver juxtaposition these photographs are very powerful and hard hitting.
I want to look more into listing things that were people 'last' things.
If i were to have a last meal, i don't know what i would choose. in reality I think that i wouldn't even eat my last meal. It seems that once you give in and eat all you have left to do it die. So i think i would want to hold onto time and not give in. I want my photographs to be more striking and thought provocative. At the moment there is not enough story line behind it.
