Robertson was known for his phantasmagoria shows. He would often lock the doors once all of his audience members were in. He would also plunge his whole audience into darkness midway through the show for several minutes at a time. He also utilised the use of smoke machines, using it as a way to blur out some of the projections that were being made. I won't use smoke, but i can definitely appreciate the use of blurring the work out. It almost suggests that your eyes aren't working correctly and it's you, not the film. Distrust and confusion is created.
