The artist Shary Boyle exhibited her work at the Venice Biennale 2013, where i was able to see first hand the benefits of using projection within a piece of work. Her exhibition was entitled "Music for Silence" in which she created three main pieces which would normally involve or be accompanied with music and made them silent. However, the piece which i was most interested with, was her piece which, at first looks, was a very large white sculpture of the inside of a cave. However, after around 2 minutes, the projector above it shone onto it a very busy and colourful image. This gaudy image then became the focal piece within the room as it was the only piece of colour. It was almost eerie to look as, as the images which were presented on there, you expected there to be noise coming from them but there was such a stark absence of it, it made the piece unnerving. From one piece, she had successfully made two pieces of art.
From this, i have signed up to have lessons on how to use a projector, so that i may be able to use one within my work.
