Last night Jess said that she had been looking at some of my work and said that she really liked this video. I hadn't looked at this piece since i had done it as i felt that it wasn't great due to the camera quality. However, after recently watching it, it has actually grown on me. I seem to be able to take a step back and make myself almost forget that it is just a sculpture and there is actually a helicopter flying over head. I can often become so wrapped up in my own work and only, unfortunately, see it as a sculpture and not an actual place. Nevertheless, because i had thought this piece had no more milage in it, and from viewing it again i have actually realised that there may still be places to go with film! I am slightly getting over the bad quality film as i suppose it does add to the uneasy feeling to the piece. It almost reminds me of some early 21 century film that you would watch when things are filmed by a moving camera on someones phone as they are running in the dark, so lucky for me it brings those running away connotations. But also through how the camera never moves from its position it's as though the person who is filming is rooted to the spot, they are unable to move, maybe scared because of the helicopter or maybe as they are trying to run/ hide from it. In summary, this has helped me in maybe considering film again.
