A few posts ago, i was thinking about the idea of having a cini projector project a new film of mine. However, since then i have been looking into what i will need to do in order to achieve this. Basically i need a super 8 film camera, film the film, send this footage off for it to be put onto a film reel and then tape this together in order to loop it. Soooooo, i have been looking into where to get a super 8 film camera and the uni has one but will not lend it out to mere fine art students - no surprise there! Next, i have tried asking people if they own one - a resounding no. Anyway, i was then speaking to Ruth about this and she basically said to me that there are only some places (she only knows one) that will now develop this type of film. And with that it is a steep price. This is the word viable comes in. I just don't know if i should continue to search this. I then started pondering on whether i should just use the projector as an installation prop. Have the film running on a screen in front of you, but what if i was to have the projector running in the room. Maybe even have it facing the audience. I feel like i will need to test this out in an installation room once i have made another film. This also led me on to thinking whether just written word would be enough sound. Perhaps having it playing over speaking or a little piece of writing to read. I would want the writings to be confusing and ambiguous, not knowing what was being spoken about and to also not know whether you are comfortable with what is being said or not. In this time that i have now i will start producing some writings.
