Thinking about Boltanski and his constant return to childhood, i was trying to think of an everyday sound that made me think of my childhood. Then i had it. I live in a little village, and we have an old church. From my garden, and when i was at primary school, i could hear the chimes of the church bells throughout the day. On Wednesday evenings the bell ringers practice and so lazy summer evenings in my garden were spent listening to the bells. They are the sound of home to me. When i return in Easter, i will record these bells playing and place them with some of my films. The concept of a bell is very important too, and something which i'll look into and could even maybe write in my book.
